Argentine Tango dancing in BergenBergen has a vibrant tango community consisting of about 50-100 dancers, and a very friendly atmosphere welcoming dancers of all levels. With three well visited milongas each week there are good opportunities for tango dancing if you are visiting our beautiful city. Most of the information on our webpage is unfortunately currently available only in Norwegian; this page will however provide general information about our activities. If you want more detailed and updated information about what is happening on the Argentine tango scene in Bergen, you are welcome to send an email to tangoabrazo@bergentango.no or contact the board members of Tango Abrazo (see bottom of that page). Check out our Calendar (click on "Kalender" in the menu), which provides complete, up to date and correct information, unfortunately available only in Norwegian. The locations are in parenthesis, and will lead to a map. For those who do not read Norwegian the following terms should be enough to make sense out of the calendar: "Tangoverkstedet" is a practica, milonga is social tango dancing, "avlyst" means cancelled, "Nybegynnerkurs" is a beginners course. There is also a city map with locations that could be useful. Newslettersannounce@bergentango.no is an English language newsletter where we announce the major tango happenings in Bergen, about 4-8 times per year.

See the calendar. WhereUSF used to stand for United Sardine Factories. It is now a cultural centre housing a wide range of different activities. The address is Georgernes Verft 12, the building however, having a very tall chimney, is easier to find than the street. The main entrance is near the waterfront. Tuesdays we usually dance in a room called Røkeriet, which is 30m straight in until you hear the music from the left. The chimney which can be seen from far away is actually located in the middle of our dance floor! Sundays the venue is called Sardinen, which is accessed by walking through the cafe on the right side of the main entrance. Ask or simply let the music lead you... Jekteviken 5 is our own club house. It is located close the harbour on Nøstegaten (just beneath the new Law School building on top of the hill). We are on the harbour side of the road in a gray two floor building, which we share with several Auto workshops. Their signs might be easier to see from Nøstegaten. The entrance is through the yard full of cars and junk. Our door is in the corner and is marked with a Tango Abrazo sign. The milongas and practicas are held at the 2nd floor. We share the building with Dyrebeskyttelsen - if you need help finding the way, ask for that. |
